The public comment period is open on new Atlantic red snapper Exempted Fishing Permit proposals!

If approved by NOAA Fisheries, these state-led proposals could allow 39–62 day recreational seasons across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina while testing improved state data collection programs.

Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) released new data highlighting the economic impact of outdoor recreation in 2024. 

The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) hosted a briefing on the report, featuring remarks from ORR Board Chair and ASA President and CEO Glenn Hughes. “This new data shows that Americans continue to spend their time and money enjoying the outdoors,” said Hughes. “ORR will continue working to address the most pressing issues facing outdoor recreation, support conservation efforts, and ensure quality access for outdoor enthusiasts.”
