2010 Sportfishing Summit Heads to
Fort Lauderdale, Florida

This year, the American Sportfishing Association’s (ASA) annual Sportfishing Summit will be held October 26-28, 2010, at the Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Sportfishing Summit is the association’s premier networking and business management event.

The Westin Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale is a great venue for our meeting. In addition to the outstanding opportunities networking, as well as fishing and boating, the International Game Fish Association and its Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum welcome visitors year-round at its location in Dania Beach. The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the largest in-water boat show in the world, will be held at various locations throughout the city from October 28 through November 1.

This year’s Summit will focus on the domestic and international economic markets, fisheries resource management, advocacy and the political forces impacting the industry.

The deadline for Summit pre-registration rates and housing group rates is October 1, 2010. Don’t delay. Please make your reservations now.

2010 Summit Meeting Registration
The deadline for pre-registration is October 1. After October 1, on-site rates apply. Please take advantage of the pre-registration rates. Summit registrations may be faxed or mailed to ASA. 2010 Summit Housing Reservations
Reservations at the Westin Beach Resort should be made no later than 1:00 p.m. EST, on October 1, 2010. Request the group rate for the American Sportfishing Association Summit. Rates are guaranteed until October 1, 2010. Housing requests received after the deadline will be assigned based upon room and rate availability.

Norville Prosser and Future of Fishing Award Nomination Form
The American Sportfishing Association has two awards - the Norville Prosser Lifetime Achievement Award and the Future of Fishing Award - to recognize significant contributions to sportfishing. Nominations are due by October 1, to Policy Fellow Alyssa Hausman, x230.

Traveling to the Summit – Fort Lauderdale, Florida
If you are traveling to the Summit by air, the nearest airport is the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The airport is approximately 15 minutes from the resort.

Agenda Overview
We have an exciting agenda planned for the 2010 Sportfishing Summit. We have invited the Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to be our keynote speaker to address participation and access issues.

Eric Schwaab, Assistant Administrator for Fisheries, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will provide an update on the administration’s polices regarding saltwater recreational fishing.

Peter Morici, Ph.D., economist, author and professor at The Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, is an expert on the global economy, state of the U.S. economy, economic policy and has a peerless track record as an economic forecaster.

The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF), under President and CEO Frank Peterson’s leadership, has significantly expanded the foundation’s impact on fishing and boating participation numbers. Hear about RBFF’s efforts on the local, state, regional and national levels.
