Dick Storm, a longtime ASA member and former member of the board of directors, passed away on Dec. 10.
Dick was a longtime association member, devoting many years to help ensure our industry’s future. Dick was the co-founder of Storm Plastics, Inc. located in Norman. He was also the president of PAMCO, Inc., and vice president of Storm Manufacturing Company.
ASA’s records indicate that Storm Manufacturing started exhibiting at the trade show in the mid-1960s. In the 1970s, Dick joined the trade show team exhibiting along with William and Gary Storm and other company representatives. Dick’s fellow industry members voted him onto the association’s board of directors in 1988 where he served with distinction for 14 years.
As the association’s treasurer, Dick was an executive committee member for six years. Dick was involved in the association’s transition from the American Fishing Tackle Manufacturers Association to ASA in the mid-1990s. His steady leadership was vital at that point in the association’s history.
Dick graduated with the highest honors from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science degree followed by a one-year Fulbright Scholarship to the University of Heidelberg in Germany. He returned to study at Stanford University, eventually earning his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Texas.
Dick was an experienced businessman who devoted his life to the industry he loved and was a true friend of the association.
