ICAST 50 2007

ICAST 2007 Industry Breakfast

More than 500 people attended Wednesday morning’s Industry Breakfast, officially kicking off ICAST50.

In honor of the 50th year of ICAST, ASA President and CEO Mike Nussman (see remarks) and ASA’s Chairman of the Board Randy Lemcke (see remarks), vice president, Plano Molding Company, recognized 22 companies who exhibited at the first American Fishing Tackle Manufacturers’ Fishing Tackle Trade Show at the Hotel Sherman in Chicago, Ill., and were still exhibiting in 2007.

“Our commitment to fishing makes our industry so much more than a collection of businesses. It’s also a lively, creative, passion-driven community,” said Nussman during the Industry Breakfast. “For much, much longer than 50 years, we’ve all sustained one of America’s favorite pastimes. Fifty years of our trade show is a great opportunity to celebrate our industry’s impact on the lives of so many people.”

Several legends of the industry were also recognized at the Industry Breakfast for their lifelong contributions to sportfishing. They are Berkley Bedell; Bill Cullerton, Sr.; Norm Gauch; Bill Gautsche; Jack Gillen; John Keith, Sr.; Dick Kotis; Sandy Levin; Jerry Rodstein; and Ron Weber.

The Industry Breakfast concluded with a marching drum line that led attendees to the opening of the ICAST50 show floor.
