INDUSTRY BREAKFAST KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Cindy Garrison—Beating the Odds
Cindy Garrison, TV host and professional international guide and angler, has gone where few anglers have gone before—Alaskan fishing guide, professional tiger fishing guide in Botswana, and ESPN TV co-host—to name a few.

And she’s sharing her personal stories of angling adventure during the ICAST Industry Breakfast on Wednesday morning, July 20.

Cindy Garrison

Cindy Garrison discovered her passion for fishing as a toddler casting into ponds on her grandparent’s Oregon ranch. She honed her fly fishing skills as a teenager living in the San Francisco Bay area with her family. It was while in college that she decided she wanted to be a fishing guide in Alaska, so with her family’s blessing, she talked her way into a fishing guide job in Alaska and her career took off from there.

Cindy figured if she could survive that—and survive she did—then she could accomplish anything she set out to do.

Her passion for fly fishing developed into her Denver-based company, Safari Tours, and four years as a fly fishing guide based in Botswana, Africa. Two years ago, her expertise and love of the sport caught the eye of ESPN who featured her as a co-host on In Search of Fly Water.

Cindy has her own show with EPSN, Get Wild! With Cindy Garrison, which will begin airing in October 2005.

Cindy agreed to speak at ICAST’s Industry Breakfast in order to share her passion for sportfishing and the outdoors. “I just want to make a difference and get people to feel a little bit of the passion that I feel.”
