AnglerSurvey.com To Benefit Business And Anglers
by Mary Jane Williamson

September 29, 2005—Alexandria, VA—WWW.ANGLERSURVEY.COM, a new online survey, will help the sportfishing industry better serve its customers. It’s free to participants who have the chance to win several $100 gift certificates each month.

AnglerSurvey.com, developed by Southwick Associates, Inc., Fernandina Beach, Fla., will survey a panel of several thousand U.S. anglers each month about their angling activities and purchases. This information will be used to develop new products and better services to enhance the angling experience.

The American Sportfishing Association (ASA), the trade association representing the sportfishing community, is always interested in obtaining more information about anglers’ activities, purchases and outdoor experiences to help its members’ businesses. Mike Nussman, president and CEO of the American Sportfishing Association, said, "the information to be produced by AnglerSurvey.com will provide an important piece of the puzzle explaining where the industry and resource agencies need to focus our efforts to improve sportfishing opportunities and fish populations.”

Rob Southwick, president, Southwick Associates, says the sportfishing industry can use the results to identify new products and services demanded by anglers. “By monitoring trends regarding the types of fishing activities enjoyed by anglers and their preferred species,” says Southwick, “fisheries agencies and angler organizations can improve sportfishing opportunities and fisheries management efforts.”

Anglers need to register only once, with the typical survey taking about two minutes to complete. Anglers will be asked about their angling activities in the past month, species pursued, products purchased, opportunities desired and more. Southwick Associates will scientifically process the data to reflect the entire sportfishing population. The results will become available to the sportfishing community in early 2006. Southwick Associates assures that e-mail addresses will only be used to send monthly e-surveys to registered participants, and will never to be sold or given to anyone or used for any promotions or solicitations.

Southwick Associates specializes in assessing revenue streams and business models for outdoor recreation working with resource agencies and trade organizations seeking to protect and expand fishing, hunting and other outdoor opportunities.
