“Conservation of our Nation’s aquatic habitats is a big
part of ASA’s mission,” said ASA’s Vice President
Gordon Robertson, “and our main goal is to ensure that we do
the best job we can to safeguard and promote the social, economic,
and conservation values of sportfishing.”
Robertson, one of nine award recipients, has spent the past 25 years
working on resource policy issues with Congress, other conservation
organizations and resource management agencies. Prior to taking over

as deputy chief. Additionally, he worked for nearly 10 years
on legislative and fish and wildlife issues with the Wildlife Management
Institute and later with the International Association of Fish and
Wildlife Agencies.
ASA was one of twelve sponsors of this year’s “Hook and
Cook” Festival.
The American Sportfishing Association is the sportfishing industry’s
trade association, uniting more than 600 members of the sportfishing
and boating industries with state fish and wildlife agencies, federal
land and water management agencies, conservation organizations, angler
advocacy groups and outdoor journalists. The American Sportfishing
